Visiting SCAD
SCAD has been receiving western visitors for some years, but the number of visitors has increased so much that Salt of the Earth and SCAD have now agreed a procedure to follow.
SCAD has excellent facilities for western visitors on the main campus and at KVK (the Farm Science and Veterinary Centre) and they would welcome anyone who wants to see SCAD in action. The experience gained over the years is that for most visitors a stay of 5-6 days as part of a longer holiday in India is about right. During that time Charles, the senior SCAD person responsible foe visitors, will organise a programme for each guest. This programme will include a number of field trips, briefing and information sessions. There will also be time for resting and local sightseeing as well as opportunities to spend a little time in the various schools and colleges on the campus.
A smaller number of visitors with particular interests, and who want to make a particular contribution, may want to spend more time at SCAD. In the past some of these visits have not proved satisfactory for the volunteer and/or SCAD. We have established that a major cause of problems has been the lack of pre-planning and establishment of clear and agreed objectives. In the future, such visits will be planned and discussed well in advance.
SCAD has asked that would be visitors in either category first contact Murray Frankland on 0116 2766439 to discuss their proposed visit. He will then liaise between them and SCAD.
