Really, what can I say!!  It was a truly amazing trip, I can't call it a "holiday", it was an almost overwhelming experience!
The organization and planning was very thorough, with very little left to chance, and one must always be prepared to cope with the vagaries of India and "life"!!
The itinerary was very good and very interesting and I felt I had really "been to India"!
Thursday I think of as my "Michael Pallin" day, meeting our maharaja ... and then the train ... all good stuff.
There was always a feeling of being cared for, and no need to feel anxious as help would always be at hand.
Our experience with the children and around the villages is almost beyond words.

The annual SOTE tour is an opportunity for our supporters, their family and friends, to see first-hand the great work SCAD is achieving with your generous donations ... and take in some of the spectacular sights of Southern India.

Our Indian journey begins at Trivandrum where we take a restful day at a hotel at nearby Kovalam beach, getting acclimatised and recovering from the flight.

The next day we travel into Tamil Nadu and to the SCAD campus at Cheranmahadevi, which will be our base for a week. The time here will be spent visiting SCAD’s many projects, plus taking in some of the local places of interest.

The second leg of the tour takes us over the Western Ghats and into Kerala, where there are opportunities to see working elephants or take a trek, as well as visit spice and tea plantations.

Descending from the hills, travelling through rubber plantations, we make our way towards India’s western coast, where an overnight tranquil backwater cruise awaits us.

We experience a journey on India’s railways back to Trivandrum as our finale to the journey, where we have time to discover some of the charms of Kerala’s capital city and relax before saying farewell to India.
